Several biomedical applications will be presented including: hemoglobin determination, non-invasivity, fetal twin-twin transfusion studies, and aging bruises in child abuse cases—all of which utilize optical spectroscopy to track hemoglobin. Several clinical studies will be presented, along with modeling, and some possible liquid crystal configurations enabling an inexpensive approach to spectroscopy as a tool in the clinic.
